VTI of Municipality of Volos at the first meeting of the project “THE FUTURE IS OUR JEWEL” (“EL FUTURO ES NUESTRA JOYA”), in Madrid
The project “THE FUTURE IS OUR JEWEL” (“EL FUTURO ES NUESTRA JOYA”) brings together 6 partner schools around a common vision in the creation of jewellery, but whose cultural, heritage and professional histories are multiple. The main objective is to highlight the diversity of each individual partner organisation in the world of jewellery by developing a common resource mapping technical knowledge, experience and expertise, enabling current and future students to identify where to go for specific industry skills and insights.
Alongside the four pillars of the project, equality, sustainability, union and tolerance, we wanted to combine the 4 elements (Water, Air, Fire and Earth) where the purest materials for jewellery are obtained.
Additionally relating to the length of the programme, (3 years) we wanted to add a time element; the past, the present and the future.
The foundation of this project is to promote Sustainable Jewellery. With this concept we intend to raise awareness and bring all participants to reflect on some of the questionable practice used in the jewellery sector, whether in the environmental field or social ethics, and try to propose and promote the implementation of better, more sustainable work models offering new solution for meaningful jewellery, preparing the future demand for ecological, ethical and equitable jewellery trend.
This project will span over 3 years, through which the didactic is to teach essential skills, knowledge and techniques to consolidate learning and enhance future work.
Each year, activities will correspond to 4 multidisciplinary phases and methodology for the implementation and management of our strategic partnership: 1) RESEARCH, 2) CREATION OF JEWELS, 3) REALIZATION OF THE CATALOGUE, 4) EXHIBITIONS.
The project also provides training mobility for students whose added value is related to the resources provided by each partner and the creation of an environment in which exchanging, sharing, discussing and developing new practices and techniques in the realization of sustainable jewellery. In addition and to ensure long term benefits are generated, for all, the website and all results will remain operational after the project closure to allow all stakeholders and partners to communicate with each other, share ideas, propose improvements and update innovative methods.
