Opening ceremony of the Erasmus + project ‘The Future is our Jewel’ Jewelry exhibition at Giorgio de Chirico Art Center

 

Opening of a European Jewelry Exhibition as part of the Erasmus + project ‘The Future is our Jewel’ at the Giorgio de Chirico Art Center in Volos.

On Tuesday 28/9, the opening of the European Travel Jewelry Exhibition of the Erasmus + program `The Future is our Jewel` with the theme "Fire" took place, which will last until 7/10/21.

The exhibition, which consists exclusively of student works on "Fire in relation to the future", started in Porto, was presented in London, came to the I.I.E.K of the Municipality of Volos of KEKPA-DIEK, will continue in Thessaloniki, Valencia, Italy and will end her trip to Madrid, Spain.

The Deputy Minister of Education, Mrs. Zeta Makri, and the Member of Parliament for Magnesia, Mr. Ch. Boukoros, sent a greeting.

The exhibition was attended by the President of KEKPA - DIEK, Mrs. S. Halaris, representatives of the MPs of Magnesia Mr. K. Maravegias, and Mr. A. Meikopoulos, the Municipal Councilor of the majority Mrs. V. Anagnostou, the Vice President of DOEPAP - DIPETHE. Α. Νάσιος and the director of Culture Mrs Chrysa Drandaki.

The presence of the Vice President of POVAKO (Pan-Hellenic Jewelry Federation) Mrs. Eleni Tezapsidou, is a great honor for the Jewelry department of the I.I.E.K of Volos Municipality, the President of the Magnesia Silversmiths Association Mr. D. Nizamis and members of the association that confirms our close contact with the production and the labor market, as our director Mrs. M. Voulgari send.

Also presented were 16 instructors and students of the schools, Escuela de Arte3 from Madrid, Escuela Artistica Soares dos Reis from Porto and British Academy of Jewelery from London, - trained at the I.I.E.K of the Municipality of Volos, from 27 / 9 / to 1/10 in the context of the mobility of the program-, students, trainers, employees of the I.I.E.K Municipality of Volos and KEKPA -DIEK and a crowd of people, always observing the protocols for the avoidance of the spread of Covid-19 .

The organizer and curator of the exhibition was the head of the Jewelry specialty of the IIEK Municipality of Volos, Leta. Argyrakou, while assistants in the whole effort were the instructors Fofo Kontouri, Areti Passioudi, Olga Oikonomou and the students of the department, M. Mareti, S. Symiakaki, Liana Micheli and M. Giotaki with their volunteer work in a period outside of classes.

It  was also realized a dance event of the dance school, M. Laoudi, choreographed by Ellada Damianou, dance by Sylvana Mouka, guitar by Dimitra Gialvali, while representatives of the media of our region as well as the students of Photography, M. Zaire, Ch. Skoufogiannis, K. Sgardoni and K. Aidalis, covered the event.

The president of KEKPA-DIEK Mrs. Sofia Chalari welcomed the attendees and mentioned in her greeting that both she and the Head of the Municipal Authority of Volos, Mayor A. Beos strengthens and promotes corresponding European actions, the benefits of which through the Erasmus + programs do not stop with the graduation of students, but continue in their subsequent course in the labor market.

Erasmus + programs provide training mobility for students whose added value is related to the resources provided by each partner and the creation of an environment in which new practices and techniques for making not only original jewelry are exchanged, shared, discussed and developed, but also a sustainable business.

The work program of the 6 participating Schools - Escuela de Arte3 Madrid, British Academy of Jewelery London, Escola Artistica Soares dos Reis Porto, For.Al Valenza, IIEK Municipality of Volos KEKPA - DIEK, and IIEK MOKUME Thessaloniki.- during three years, is related to five types of activities, Research, Jewelry making, Catalog creation, Booklet creation and Exhibitions for the methodology of implementation and management of the strategic partnership with simultaneous promotion of the work of the Students and the Schools!

In addition and to ensure long-term benefits for all, the website (https://thefutureisourjewel.wordpress.com) and all results will remain operational after the project closes, so that all stakeholders and partners can communicate with each other, exchange ideas, propose improvements and update innovative methods.

The IIEK of the Municipality of Volos through its European collaborations and its Accreditation by the I.K.Y. proves the high level of education and training that it has provided for 35 years, which is enhanced by distinctions at Panhellenic and International level.
